Hansen Office-Wide Experiential Design

Hansen sought a full transformation, including an office renovation with cutting-edge experiential design, signage, and wayfinding.

Brought in early, our team helped plan the space before construction began. The goal was to refresh the office space to reflect Hansen’s values while honoring its roots.
To bring this vision to life, we developed internal messaging features that highlighted the team’s achievements, values, and people, and updated the exterior signage. Our team also designed a timeline wall that brings Hansen’s story to life for both visitors and employees.

Signage & Wayfinding

Hansen wanted to give their well-established company a refresh from the inside out, which ultimately led to a full office renovation. They envisioned a space that felt unmistakably Hansen—one that would carry them confidently into a new era. Their goal was to ensure that anyone who walks through their doors thinks to themsleves, “So, this is Hansen!”

At its core, the company is built on its people, strong relationships, high-quality work, and a get-it-done mentality. These values needed to shine throughout the new environment.

From the pre-demolition phase onward, 818 collaborated closely with the Hansen team to create a space they’d love to work in. Every immersive feature was intentionally designed to reflect who Hansen is—welcoming, trustworthy, and bold. From the timeline wall to the exterior signage, you can experience Hansen’s excellence at every angle.

Our Process

PRE-DESIGN
We begin with Pre-Design, which falls under the discover phase. In this stage, we learn about goals, needs, and expectations through customized feature moodboards, questionnaires, conversations, and on-site visits.

DEVELOP
After gathering every insight possible during Pre-Design, we move onto Schematic Design. With a collaborative approach, we present strategies and a range of preliminary concepts for each feature, tailored through extensive research and discoveries to align with Hansen’s goals. The resulting feedback in this phase allows us to hone in on a clear design direction.

DESIGN
Once these final feature designs are selected, we shift into Design Development, refining the selected ideas to ensure they’re the perfect fit—whether that means adjusting finishes, fine-tuning details, or making other design improvements. When the design is fully defined, we move into the last portion of this phase where our team produces detailed construction documents which are sent to the selected vendor, which in this case was the Vital Signs team.

DELIVER
After finalizing the last of the design details, we begin the final phase with Vendor Coordination. We collaborate with vendors on printing, fabrication, and installation quotes for the client’s final approval, ensuring no detail is overlooked before moving into Production and Installation. Once our design team and the client have approved the final proofs, we schedule a date for one of our favorite parts of the process: installation day, where we meet with the vendor on-site to answer questions, oversee key moments of the installation, and document the process. Larger projects sometimes require professional photography or videography to fully capture the breadth of the work, which involves a separate visit at the client’s convenience.

Once the client has had time to reflect on the experience and spend time in the refreshed space, we conduct a retrospective discussion together, gaining valuable insights that help us improve our process for future projects.
