We are heading into summer with our newest addition to the team, Megan Anderson! She is a designer, recently graduated from Iowa State University. Get to know Megan by checking out our quick interview below!
Q: Where were you born?
A: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Q: How would your team describe you?
A: My team would describe me as a planner, an observer and listener, a thoughtful decision maker, and passionately positive.
Q: What is your design background?
A: I’ve always had a knack for creativity and my love of photography inspired me to pursue graphic design. I just graduated from Iowa State University with a BFA in graphic design and did multiple internships during my time there. I’m so excited to finally be out in the real world pursuing my passion as a full-time professional!
Q: What areas of design are you most passionate about?
A: I love so many different aspects of design but I would say that typography is my favorite. Nothing brings me more joy than nicely laid out type and thoughtfully chosen typefaces. Also, just the overall fact that I get to make and create every day. I mean, how cool is that?
Q: What is something you always carry with you?
A: Snacks. I’m always hungry! And more often than not, my camera. You never know where there might be a good photo op!
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: I’m proud of my design skills that I’ve been able to develop at Iowa State and my abilities as a self-taught photographer.
Q: If you could learn one skill what would it be?
A: How many things can I list? Because there are so many things left for me to learn! I would love to learn videography, how to play the guitar, find at least ONE sport other than tennis that I’m good at, speak Spanish fluently, hand calligraphy, and at least one other medium of art like painting or printmaking.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I love being outside, whether it’s for a bonfire, a nice stroll through the neighborhood, or just sitting on the porch with a good book. I constantly listen to music, and I’m spending a lot of time learning to cook healthy food. And of course, nothing beats time spent with my friends and family (dogs included)!
Q: What are you most excited about at 818?
A: As my first full-time position out of college, I’m excited to delve into the world of design with such an awesome team that’s willing to give me real life experience and push me to continue growing as a designer and a professional.
Q: What is your favorite dinosaur?
A: Oh, for sure the brachiosaurus, stemming from my love of the Jurassic Park movies. They seem like such gentle giants!
